Children's

Sunday mornings, during the 10am service

We are contending for the next generation, not just running a kids’ ministry. Contending means that we do not just sit and let the world raise our children, but we are intentional and directional in what we teach and how we raise them as a church family. Our calling is to work alongside the parents to help the children grow in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and with man.

Families are welcome for services at HCC. We have a children’s programme every Sunday morning led by our experienced and dedicated team of teachers. We structure our lessons around the children’s age and stage, and what they are experiencing as they grow older. We work with the parents to create a curriculum suitable for the child and the parents to engage with together on Sunday morning and during the week as well.

Youth Ministry

Thursdays 7–9pm, Seven Oaks

Youth from age 11–19 meet on a Thursday night from 7–9pm for an evening of fun interactive discussions, helpful experiential activities and bible reading and prayer.

Examples of activities are youth group camps, beach days and barbecues, day trips around the South Island and end of term activities such as bowling and rock climbing. We also include some discussions around topical issues such as identity, decision making, the game of life and lessons from bible characters.

The leaders are experienced and police-vetted youth and adults, with a passion for young people and for Jesus. They will help your young person feel welcomed and included. Come along with a friend!

Family

Families are at the heart of our church community. From young families finding their feet to those whose children have grown, we want every household to be known, supported and growing together in faith.

Life groups

Spiritual growth happens in circles, not rows

Home groups are key to our vision. We believe relationships are cultivated and established around a bible study table as much as in a Sunday service. Our groups meet in homes across Halswell and at Seven Oaks through the week — there’s room for you in one of them.
